Features and Benefits
Reliability to withstand harsh field environments
The design and construction of the AMT-6010 used MIL-STD-810F and IP68 specifications to ensure its levels of environmental reliability. The MIL-STD-810F specifications were created by the U.S. government to cover a broad range of tests that measure the durability of equipment used under harsh environemnts. Those most closely reflect the challenges that mobile computing applications may face in the field include drop resistance, shock resistance, moisture resistance, dust and vibration resistance, exposure to extremely low and high temperatures. The following test procedures were performed on the AMT-6010:

(1) Thermal shock test - passed
Without display panel: -40°C (2 hours) to 95°C( 2 hours); total 20 cycles.
With the panel : -40°C( 2 hrs.) to 70°C (2 hours); total 10cycles.
Unpackaged, Operating: -20°C
Duration: Turn off the power while the temperature reaching -20°C for 1 hour and then turn on the power for 1 hour.

(2) Vibration test - passed
Condition : Unpackaged, Operating
Waveform : Random wave
Direction : X, Y, Z (3 axes)
Duration : 10 minutes / axis 10.0 grms (20~2000 Hz, 0.050505 PSD (g²/Hz))

(3) Mechanical Shock test - passed
Condition : Unpackaged, Non-operating
Pulse shape: Sawtooth pulse.
Peak acceleartion :40 g
Duration of pulse : 11ms
Direction : ±X, ±Y, ±Z ( 6 directions)
Number of shock : 3 shocks/ direction
Reliability of enclosure againt Ingress of Moisture
The AMT-6010 enclosure is sealed to protect ingress of dust and moisture. Tested using the IP (ingress protection) specifications, AMT-6010 is rated IP68 to provide complete protection against dust and moisture.

After the IP (ingress protection) part of an enclosure's protection rating, the first number equates to the protection offered by an enclosure as regards solid objects from screwdrivers and fingers through to fine particulate dust. AMT-6010 passed the toughest #6-rated test which means it was tested to see if it was possible to blow or suck dust through the enclosure.

Next the AMT-6010 was tested for waterproofness. It was tested to the most demanding standard of all – IPX8 that allows for continuous submersion in 1.5m of water for 2 hours when all I/O ports and cable entries are capped or mated.
Think Green - AMT-6010 is manufactured to comply with RoHS and equivalent legislations
RoHS (Restriction of certain Hazardous Substances) is the European Union (EU) Directive on the Restriction of use of certain Hazardous Substances that restricts the use of six substances in electrical and electronic equipment placed on the market after 1st July 2006. RoHS compliance is about so much more than confirming whether a device is free from lead or any of the six restricted hazardous substances. It's about the way we design products, buy products and do business in an increasingly green world.

Although there is little or no federal legislation similar to RoHS in the United States currently, the state of California has announced legislation effectively mirroring the EU Directives. The new electronics legislation, includes measures referred to as the California RoHS, may compel an acceleration of compliance with the EU’s material restrictions. The new law contains “RoHS-equivalency” measures, which prohibit the sale of any electronic product in the state that would be prohibited from sale in the EU because of the presence of heavy metals. This new law makes California the first state to legislatively address the toxicity of electronic products.
Capacitive touchscreen is the clear choice.
rugged tablet PC with touchscreen Capacitive touch screens are coated with a transparent metal oxide. A voltage is applied to the corners of the overlay creating a minute uniform electric field. When you touch the screen with your bare finger, it draws current from each corner of the electric field, creating a voltage drop that is measured to determine touch location. Advantages of capacitive screens include: extremely durable, very accurate, good optical clarity, and good resolution.

That's why the AMT-6010's well designed, sealed front panel with its LCD and embedded touchscreen offers complete ingress protection against water and dust, and not subject to the mechanical failures that can plague other computer input devices such as keyboards and mice.
Low power consumption means longer battery life
Using the ultra low voltage (ULV) series of Intel Mobile Pentium processors and power saving design, the AMT-6010 not only dispenses with cooling fans, its Li-ion battery provides 6 ~ 8 hours of operation with a single charge.
Mobility, connectivity
Use AMT-6010 as a hand-held computer, or attach the docking station for desktop, in-vehicle environments. There is an array of durable mounting kits for proper positioning in a variety of workspaces. And with built-in ethernet, available wireless communication, the AMT-6010 lets you work in any environment and stay connected.
