Contemporary MicroSystems introduces two rack LCD consoles: the SMK520LS17 and SMK-580LX15 use aluminum for the LCD panel and keyboard housing. It weighs about 10 pounds less than comparable products made with metal. And it has a sleek look given by its brushed finish. The rackmounting flanges and slide rails are still made of steel for strength.
