Rack Mount LCD Console Drawer Supports USB Keyboard and Mouse

Arcadia, California (January 5, 2006)—Contemporary MicroSystems is pleased to announce the introduction of a new 1U rack LCD console for racked server environments. The SMK-820S17 features a 17 inch TFT LCD monitor and USB ports for keyboard and touchpad mouse input devices.
With the SMK-820S17, Contemporary MicroSystems adds USB support to its line of rack LCD console drawer products. Modern PCs and servers support more than 4 USB ports. The SMK-820S17 takes advantage of USB's many advantages including hot-pluggable, ease of use and high performance.
Like all Contemporary MicroSystem's rack LCD console drawers, the SMK-820S17 uses a clamshell design to save rack space. The rack console drawer is mounted on slide rails and slides out for access to its flip-up LCD monitor and keyboard. The 17" LCD offers 1280 x 1024 native resolution, 450:1 contrast ratio and 300 nits brightness. Front bezel on-screen display (OSD) controls allow adjustment of display properties in just seconds. A momentary switch turns the LCD backlight off when the LCD is folded down to conserve power and prolong the service life of the LCD. Its built-in analog to digital conversion board and external 15-pin VGA connector makes the monitor compatible with a wide range of commercial off-the-shelf video cards.
